THE VIDEO WORKFLOW

Real-Time Video from Sensor to Operator

A live video workflow starts with the camera or imaging system. Where that system provides a compatible SDI or HDMI output, a BLANKOM encoder converts the signal into an IP video stream for delivery across the project’s communications network. Monitoring, analysis and command systems receive the imagery at the other end. The encoder is one building block within this wider architecture: interfaces, resolution, stream requirements and network conditions determine the appropriate model and configuration.

BLANKOM provides the video encoding and streaming layer; the communications link is selected according to the project.

Prepared for U.S. TAA-Covered Procurement

The 300 Series is being prepared for projects where U.S. Trade Agreements Act country-of-origin requirements may apply. Final product-level eligibility will be documented before commercial launch.

LIFECYCLE COST

Professional Video Encoding Without Unnecessary Platform Overhead

Product origin, procurement eligibility and integration into an existing architecture all affect equipment selection. So does the cost of operating it over time.

Standard BLANKOM hardware includes a lifetime licence, with no recurring BLANKOM licence fees and no mandatory SLA. Dedicated video hardware can become part of your wider system without a required BLANKOM software subscription.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Defence & ISR Video Encoder FAQ

What is an ISR video encoder?

An ISR video encoder converts a live video signal from a surveillance or reconnaissance imaging system into an IP stream so that imagery can be transported to remote operators, monitoring locations or command systems.

Can a UAV stream SDI or HDMI video over IP?

Yes. Where the UAV payload, camera system or ground-side equipment provides a compatible SDI or HDMI video signal, an encoder can compress the video and generate an IP stream for transport across the communications link used by the project.

Can BLANKOM encoders be used with infrared or thermal cameras?

Yes, where the infrared or thermal imaging system provides a compatible video output. BLANKOM encoders have been used in infrared-camera surveillance applications. Image generation and thermal analysis remain functions of the camera or imaging system.

Can BLANKOM equipment be used for border surveillance?

BLANKOM IP encoder and streamer equipment has been used in border-security applications where remote surveillance video must be converted into IP streams for transport to monitoring locations.

Does BLANKOM manufacture video encoders in Germany?

The new BLANKOM 300 Series of professional IP encoders and streamers is scheduled for market launch in Q1 2027 and will be manufactured in Germany.

Is the BLANKOM 300 Series TAA compliant?

The BLANKOM 300 Series is being prepared for applicable U.S. TAA-covered procurement. Final product-level eligibility will be confirmed and documented before commercial release.

Do BLANKOM video encoders require annual licences?

No. Standard BLANKOM hardware products include lifetime licensing. There are no recurring BLANKOM licence fees and no mandatory BLANKOM SLA agreement.

Does TAA compliance mean that a product is cybersecurity-certified?

No. TAA concerns applicable procurement and country-of-origin requirements. Cybersecurity, environmental qualification, military certification and application-specific security requirements are separate matters and must be evaluated independently.
