Optical audio leads for the digital connection between players, receivers and soundbars, where an electrical connection would carry interference.
FCA-1000 uses a 2.2 mm fibre and is the flexible everyday cable. FCA-1000X uses a 4.0 mm fibre, which is more robust for fixed installation and longer runs. FCA-2000 has a Toslink plug at one end and a 3.5 mm mini optical plug at the other, for laptops, compact players and devices with a combined analogue and optical socket.
Because the link is optical, it isolates the two devices electrically — which is often the reason it is chosen in installations with long ground paths.
Toslink carries a stereo PCM signal and the common compressed surround formats; it does not carry the newest high-bandwidth audio formats, which is worth checking against the receiver before ordering.
