The HDS-8440 is a state-of-the-art satellite modulator that fully complies with the latest global satellite broadcasting standards, including DVB-S, DVB-S2, and DVB-S2X (EN302307-2). This inclusion of DVB-S2X allows satellite operators to benefit from advanced spectral efficiency, finer roll-off options, and higher-order modulation schemes compared to legacy systems.

To ensure flexible integration into professional broadcast infrastructures, the HDS-8440 features a versatile input matrix. It supports up to 4x ASI inputs for legacy transport stream feeds and 2x Gigabit IP input ports supporting SPTS and MPTS over UDP/RTP protocols. This dual-interface design enables seamless processing of both traditional coaxial ASI and modern IP-based video payloads.

The device features a software-defined digital modulator core capable of generating a wide array of constellations. In DVB-S2X mode, it supports advanced modulation formats including QPSK, 8PSK, 16APSK, 32APSK, and 64APSK. This broad range allows network engineers to optimize satellite transponder space based on precise link budget and carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) requirements.

Yes, the BLANKOM HDS-8440 fully supports Multi-Stream (MIS) transmission, allowing the multiplexing of multiple independent transport streams into a single satellite transponder carrier. It also features GSE (Generic Stream Encapsulation) support, making it an excellent choices for delivering hybrid services, including traditional television broadcast and high-speed IP data streams simultaneously over satellite.

The high-performance RF output stage of the HDS-8440 delivers a highly stable L-band signal, covering a frequency tuning range of 950 MHz to 2150 MHz in precise 1 Hz steps. The output power level can be adjusted continuously via the software user interface with a wide attenuation range, ensuring an exceptionally high MER (Modulation Error Ratio) and minimal phase noise for clean uplink transmissions.

Yes, for secure contribution links, content distribution, and DSNG temporary feeds, the HDS-8440 integrates hardware-based BISS-1 and BISS-E (Basic Interoperable Scrambling System) encryption. This allows satellite engineers to scramble the outgoing transport streams directly at the modulator level before it reaches the satellite uplink antenna, preventing unauthorized signal reception.

To maximize transponder efficiency and reduce guard bands between adjacent carriers, the HDS-8440 supports ultra-fine roll-off factors. In addition to the standard DVB-S2 roll-off values, it implements the advanced DVB-S2X roll-off options of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 35%. This allows operators to pack more throughput into the same MHz allocation.

The HDS-8440 is equipped with a dedicated Network Management System (NMS) Ethernet port. It offers an intuitive, responsive WebGUI (Web Browser Interface) for complete remote configuration of all modulation parameters, input bitrates, and output frequencies. Additionally, it natively supports SNMP for seamless integration into larger broadcast automation platforms and real-time monitoring.

Designed strictly for satellite teleports and uplink stations, the 1U industrial architecture ensures a certified 99.999% availability profile (Five Nines) under constant 24/7/365 heavy-duty operational loads, completely eliminating the risk of signal drops.

Yes, a comprehensive technical PDF Datasheet containing all RF parameters and compliance forms is available for direct download on irenis-blankom.com. Furthermore, due to optional hardware and software configuration add-ons (such as BISS licenses or specific power supply modules), a dedicated Ordering Guide table is included on the page to help purchasing managers select the perfect model configuration suffix.
