Satellite Radio Reception: Receive and decode high-quality audio broadcast programs directly from satellites via DVB-S/S2/S2X.

Terrestrial FM Broadcasting The IRA-3000 is an ideal solution for remote transmitter sites. It receives national or syndicated radio programs via DVB-S/S2/S2X satellite links and outputs professional-grade analog or AES/EBU digital audio (via XLR interfaces) directly to local FM exciters.

DAB/DAB+ Digital Radio Networks Operating as a high-fidelity satellite-to-baseband receiver, the unit decodes satellite audio feeds into pristine AES/EBU digital audio or IP streams. This provides the high-quality source audio required to feed central DAB Multiplexers for subsequent ETI or EDI ensemble generation.

Cable TV & Radio Headends (DVB-C) The device effortlessly demodulates and decodes high-quality radio broadcasts, allowing operators to seamlessly re-modulate the audio into analog FM for cable distribution or inject it into digital QAM channels.

IP Audio Distribution & STL (Studio-to-Transmitter Link) Acting as a highly efficient gateway, the IRA-3000 converts RF signals or ASI feeds into Single Program Transport Streams (SPTS) over UDP/RTP (multicast or unicast). This enables reliable, IP-based audio distribution to remote broadcast sites or enterprise IPTV networks.

IPTV Headends: Feed the decoded high-quality radio broadcasts and seamlessly inject them into IPTV networks.

BLANKOM IRA-3000 Audio IRD Receiver Decoder application example

The BLANKOM Professional Audio IRD (Integrated Receiver Decoder) is an operator-class hardware solution engineered to receive professional audio payloads from various input interfaces—such as satellite (DVB-S/S2/S2X), IP, or ASI networks—and decode them into high-fidelity analog and digital audio outputs for radio broadcasting, studio monitoring, and commercial audio distribution networks.

To ensure universal compatibility with global satellite distribution networks, the Audio IRD features an advanced multi-standard tuner input supporting DVB-S, DVB-S2, and DVB-S2X. This allows radio networks to seamlessly tune into high-efficiency satellite transponders, utilizing modern modulation schemes and optimized roll-off factors to receive pristine audio feeds.

Designed to meet strict broadcast studio standards, the unit is equipped with a comprehensive set of output interfaces. It provides professional balanced digital audio via AES/EBU (XLR) interfaces, as well as high-fidelity balanced analog stereo audio (XLR) outputs. This dual-architecture guarantees noise-free, studio-grade signal distribution to broadcast mixers, transmitters, or local amplification systems.

Yes. In addition to physical satellite RF and ASI inputs, the Audio IRD features dedicated Gigabit IP interfaces. It natively supports receiving SPTS/MPTS audio streams over UDP and RTP protocols (supporting both Unicast and Multicast modes). This enables the device to be deployed in hybrid infrastructures, using IP streaming either as the primary distribution method or as an automatic backup path if the satellite signal drops.

The high-performance hardware decoding matrix supports a broad spectrum of industry-standard broadcast audio codecs. It can decode MPEG-1 Layer II (MP2), MPEG-4 AAC, AAC-LC, HE-AAC (v1 and v2), and Dolby Digital (AC3) audio layers. This ensures that regardless of the compression profile chosen by the uplink station, the IRD delivers perfectly reconstructed, high-fidelity audio.

For secured radio distribution networks, syndicated programming, and encrypted contribution links, the Professional Audio IRD features built-in hardware decryption. It natively supports BISS-1 and BISS-E (Basic Interoperable Scrambling System) decryption, allowing station engineers to securely descramble incoming audio transport streams directly at the receiver level using pre-shared keys.

Yes, the device integrates an advanced internal demultiplexer. When receiving a Multi-Program Transport Stream (MPTS) via satellite, IP, or ASI, operators can use the management interface to explicitly select the specific audio PID or radio service channel that needs to be decoded and routed to the physical XLR outputs.

The unit features a dedicated Network Management System (NMS) Ethernet interface. Operators can configure and monitor all parameters—such as tuner input levels, MER, Eb/No values, audio PIDs, bitrates, and output attenuation—via an intuitive, built-in WebGUI (Web Browser Interface). For enterprise network operations, SNMP is fully supported to enable real-time status monitoring and automated central alerting.

Running a hardened embedded Linux OS inside a fanless, low-noise 1U chassis, the Audio IRD guarantees 99.999% continuous uptime for mission-critical 24/7/365 radio broadcasting and contribution links, eliminating any risk of synchronization drift or device lockups.

Yes, comprehensive technical PDF Datasheets highlighting all RF thresholds, audio distortion (THD) levels, and frequency response metrics are available for direct download on irenis-blankom.com. Additionally, an explicit Ordering Guide table is provided on the page to assist system integrators in selecting specific hardware sub-variants, such as dual power supply options for full power redundancy.
