Compare HDMI cable assemblies by signal requirements, construction and route length. Check the supported video mode for the selected cable, source and display, including any active optical direction requirements.
HDMI leads for short desk runs and for the distances where a passive copper cable stops working.
For normal room distances, HDMI-3000 covers 4K and Full HD, HDMI-4K-3000 is the standard 4K lead, HDMI-4K-1000 is flat and flexible for tight routing and HDMI-4K-4000 has a nylon braid for cables that are handled often. HDMI-10K-1000 and HDMI-10K-2000 are Ultra High Speed cables for 10K at 120 Hz.
Beyond a few metres the active optical hybrid cables take over: HDMI-4K-5000, HDMI-4K-7000 and HDMI-4K-8000 at 4K, HDMI-4K-6000 in an armoured version for exposed runs, and HDMI-10K-3000, HDMI-10K-5000 and HDMI-10K-6000 for 8K and 10K. These are directional — the source and display ends are marked.
The practical rule: below about five metres a passive cable is simpler and cheaper; above it, an optical cable removes the guesswork, especially at 4Kp60 and beyond.
Tell us the resolution, the distance and whether the cable will be pulled through conduit, and we will name the type.
Tell us the resolution, frame rate, source and display, cable length and quantity.
