The units that turn broadcast and baseband sources into a managed IP stream: gateways, encoders, transcoders, multiplexers and receivers.
A typical IPTV headend starts where the signal arrives. DVB-to-IP gateways such as the IGS series take up to 24 tuners of DVB-S2, DVB-T2 or DVB-C and output multicast or unicast; the IGA-4400 does the same for ASI, in both directions. Live sources are added by the EMU encoder families over HDMI or SDI, and by the MPE audio encoders for radio and audio-only services.
Downstream, the BTR-6000V transcodes and re-multiplexes IP to IP, the BIG-1050X converts between stream protocols and between unicast and multicast, and the IRD receivers decode contribution feeds back to SDI or HDMI. The BLR-4X adds 1:1 satellite redundancy where an outage is not acceptable.
